Flavorful and harmonious

The STROH Glöggerl is a delightful hot beverage that allows the unique STROH flavor to shine. This recipe combines ingredients such as red wine, oranges, spices, and, of course, STROH, and lets them steep for an extended period to create an aromatic and warming drink. Ingredients for 6 Servings

  • 1 liter of red wine
  • 70 g of sugar
  • 1 package of vanilla sugar
  • 8 cl of STROH 80
  • seeds from one vanilla bean
  • 2 teaspoons of freshly grated ginger
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 70 g of almonds, peeled and slivered
  • 3 tablespoons of raisins (optional)
  • 2 apples for garnish

 

Preparation

  • Peel the ginger (using a spoon works best) and grate it finely.
  • Pour the red wine into a pot and heat it over medium heat.
  • Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, vanilla seeds, cinnamon sticks, star anise, STROH, and grated ginger. Then add the raisins.
  • Reduce the temperature and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  • Remove from heat, cover, and let it steep for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Afterward, strain out the spices and reheat the Glöggerl.
  • Add the slivered almonds and (optional) raisins. Fill into cups.
  • Slice an apple and cut out star shapes.
  • Serve the STROH Glöggerl garnished with the apple slices.
