Peel the ginger with a spoon and grate it finely. Pour the red wine into a pot and heat it up to medium heat.  Add the sugar, vanilla sugar, vanilla pod, cinnamon sticks,  star anise, STROH rum and  grated ginger.
Optional: Add raisins. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes. Take the pot off the heat and let it rest with the lid on for at least six hours or overnight. Strain the herbs and heat the „Glöggerl” again. Add the almond sticks. Pour the „Glöggerl“ into cups. Cut one apple into slices and cut out stars. Garnish the “Glöggerl” with the apple stars.
